Contemporary theories highlight the importance of Others for an individual's reasoning and/or argumentation. Reasoners and arguers are encouraged to interact with imagined constructs or with other people, which are meant to bring to mind overlooked reasons and coun ter-considerations so as to improve the quality of reasoning or argumen tations. But this advice ignores the impact of differing individual's im aginative abilities, while consulting other people comes with its own serious limitations. Reasoners and arguers would do just as well to im prove their own critical creative ca pacities first.
