Resumo(s)

The analysis of borders in Latin America, particularly in South America, tends to tackle problems from isolated approaches. However, the creation of policies that allow for the solution of regional border problems requires an integrated analysis of the various veiwpoints. In this respect, the concept of Integrated Border Management, which the European Union considers applicable in South American coutries, is particularly relevant. It is consequently interesting to follow the debate on how a mechanism developed in Europe can become essential in border management policies against drug trafficking on the agendas of integration organisations in South America. Accordingly, our aim is to evaluate, throug the analysis of CAM, MERCOSUR and UNASUR integration processes, how the avaiable instruments of the different experiences in South American integration can have an impact on border management against drug trafficking.
