The Information Management Research Center (MagIC) is the research unit of NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS).
MagIC advances the field of Information Management through an interdisciplinary approach that connects Management and Data Science. Its mission is to understand how information interacts with human behavior and organizational structures, creating methods and tools that support evidence-based decision-making for the benefit of individuals, organizations, and society.
MagIC brings together over 100 researchers and collaborators from more than 21 nationalities, making it a truly international research center. Over the past five years, it has produced more than 1,000 scientific outputs, over 80% of which have been published in international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, with nearly half developed in international collaborations. A strong commitment to open science ensures that most of these results are freely accessible through the institutional repository.
The center’s academic impact is globally recognized. Ten integrated researchers are listed among Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists, including two who have featured in the Highly Cited Researchers Index (top 1%), along with several other distinctions.
MagIC’s strength lies in the synergy between Management and Data Science, producing research that not only explains emerging phenomena but also develops theoretical and practical models to guide the future. The center plays a key role in the Doctoral Program in Information Management, where its researchers mentor and train the next generation of academic and industry leaders.
