This project work investigates the school as a fundamental social space for the construction of political communities in the contemporary context. We look into the relations between school and power through the practices, the everyday life and the performances that take place in this space. We take special attention to the discursive and ritual dimensions and to the ways they inscribe the negotiations between power and school practice in the body. We consider the border established between school and world from three perspectives: the representations and discourses from the inside, namely the ones produced by teachers, students or the institutions; the discourse outside, from external agents such as the parents, the local political authorities and the state; and finally a space between where we analyse with special attention the school projects and partnerships in their public visibility. In order to do that we particularize three schools from Almada as the privileged space for this investigation.
