Resumo(s)
Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has been attracting increased attention since the appearance
of ChatGPT in 2022. It is a technology that is presented as having the potential to trigger significant
changes in how people work. Prior studies have focused heavily on GenAI usage in an educational and
academic context application, although, there are still few studies on outcomes for professionals, both
from an instrumental scope and a humanistic perspective. To explore these research goals, this study
dives into the outcomes that GenAI usage might have for professionals, namely on wellbeing, job
engagement, management control and productivity. Moreover, it is also explored the moderation
roles of trust, perceived social presence, and decision support on the afore-mentioned outcomes. To
evaluate the previous goals, we collected answers from 306 professionals who leverage GenAI to some
extent. The findings revealed that leveraging GenAI for enabled job learning has a major contribution
towards professionals´ wellbeing and job engagement, management control, and productivity.
Moreover, we also found that perceived social presence is a mediator between GenAI enabled job
learning and management control. Additionally, we also observed that in a scenario in which
professionals have a high usage of GenAI for decision support, enabled job learning becomes more
important in explaining productivity’s variance.
