baixos a nível europeu.
A gravidade deste problema é tão
Currently, participation in volunteer activities in Europe is significantly low. At the national level, values are even lower compared to the European average, with Portugal being one of the European countries with the lowest adherence to volunteer activities. Another serious current problem is the increasing feeling of loneliness, especially among the elderly, who, considering demographic aging, represent a large percentage of the population. The significance of this problem is so high that loneliness has been considered the latest epidemic of public health. With the purpose of addressing these two problems, it was developed a web and mobile platform. The platform aims to have an impact on the volunteering sector by allowing easier access to information and registration for solidarity events. This platform would indirectly decrease the feeling of loneliness by enabling participation in group activities, which in itself encourages more volunteers to join. By participating in activities, the volunteers will engage in mainly group activities, impacting their feeling of loneliness. Regarding the elderly age group, the aim is to ease their participation by allowing them to register for activities (either on their own or on behalf of others), or by being the supported group at events. At the beginning of the development of this project, the essential requirements were established to contribute to the resolution of the problem described in the preceding paragraphs. Upon conclusion of the development of the platform, a confirmation of the initially established requirements was carried out, concluding their correct functioning. It is important to emphasize that the application is in a prototype state, which means that it needs to incorporate some missing functionalities, such as security measures.
