fornecedores.
Nowadays, It Is being witnessed we are witnessing an increase in competitiveness be- tween companies and an increase in customer demands regarding the quality of the prod- ucts/services they offer. organisations seek to add value to their products, making them more appealing. Production support materials allow adding value to the final product and, without them, production may be constrained or even stopped. Therefore, it is necessary to manage these materials in order to guarantee their availability to the production processes, without the occurrence of stock-outs or overstocks. This dissertation was developed at Grupo Amorim, in the Amorim Distribuição industrial unit responsible for expediting marked, treated and packaged cork stoppers to the end cos- tumer. The objective of the dissertation is to define the best management to be applied to the non-cork materials, which are considered support materials for production and are composed of packaging materials, marking inks and treatment chemical products. The improvement in the management of non-cork materials began by analysing the his- torical consumption of each type of material. Subsequently, the warehouse for these materials was restructured, using storage methods and Lean methodology tools. This allowed for a 57% increase in storage space and a 33% reduction in picking time. Afterwards, stock management models were applied to the different materials. To do so, the models of continuous revision, revision periodic and Naddor's heuristic were used. Finally, the MRP module of the SAP soft- ware was parameterised, based on the parameters obtained in the previous stage, to assist and the placement of orders with suppliers.
