The article Historical Musical Archiving Science applied to Wind Bands Archives: a look at the state of the matter intends to understand the current moment of Historical Musical Archiving Science in terms of norms, terminology and methodologies, regarding the archival treatment given to Wind Bands Archives and how much the importance of these Archives in studies of military and civil Wind Bands. This article takes as its central subject Historical Musical Archival Science as a discipline under construction that combines a normative, conceptual and theoretical perspective that is important from Musical Archival Science and a problematizing and contextual perspective that is important from Historical Archival Science. Historical Musical Archival Science is thus observed in terms of its concepts, theories and methodologies, as a potential contribution to the study of Wind Bands. For this purpose, a survey of the State of the Art was carried out regarding authors, concepts, methodologies and standards for Musical Archival Science, as well as an analysis of a series of national and international Wind Band Archives treated archivistically and /or posted online. Thus, it was possible to understand how, in general, there is still no normative framework widely applied to Music Archives, such as those of Wind Bands and that their Archival treatment does not correspond to a trend, however when it happens, it is accompanied by the awareness that treating and disseminating the Archive of a Wind Band contributes to the preservation and knowledge of the History of the groups in question.
