Este Relatório de Atividade Profissional tem como objetivo geral a obtenção do Grau de Mestre
em Genética Molecular e Biomedicina, pela Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade
Nova de Lisboa.
É descrita a atividade curricular e profissional, enquanto Técnica Superior de Análises Clínicas e
de Saúde Pública, na Urgência da área do Serviço Patologia Clínica do Hospital de Garcia de Orta.
O documento apresentado centra-se na pandemia COVID-19 e tem como objetivos específicos
explicitar a Técnica de RT-PCR, utilizada na secção de Biologia Molecular e a sua ligação com
o Laboratório de Urgência. Pretende-se também descrever as múltiplas infeções por vírus
respiratórios, bem como a importância de um teste multiparamétrico para o diagnóstico
diferencial destes vírus responsáveis por infeções no Homem, realçando a colaboração do SPC
na intervenção clínica e por sua vez na Saúde Pública.
Pretende-se no final deste relatório chegar a conclusões que permitam a melhoria continua do
diagnóstico precoce, no sentido de prevenção de agravamento do surto de COVID-19, nas
diferentes valências do Hospital Garcia de Orta em contexto de Emergência.
This Professional Activity Report aims to maintain the Master's Degree in Molecular Genetics and Biomedicine, by the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova Lisboa. A description is made of a technical curricular and professional activity, as on area of Clinical Pathology at Hospital de Garcia de Orta. The document presented focuses on the COVID-19 pandemic and has as specific objectives to explain the RT-PCR Technique, used in the Molecular Biology section and its connection with the Emergency Laboratory. It is also intended to describe the multiple infections by respiratory viruses, as well as the importance of a multiparametric test for the differential diagnosis of these viruses responsible for infections in humans, highlighting the role of the Clinical Pathology Service in aiding clinical intervention and, in turn, in the Public health. At the end of this report, it is intended to reach conclusions that allow the continuous improvement of early diagnosis, in order to prevent the worsening of the COVID-19 outbreak, in the different valences of the Hospital Garcia de Orta in an Emergency context.
