Resumo(s)

In the last decades, the use and access to data has become a valuable asset for the success of an organization and to keep ahead of the competition. It is clear that data driven companies tend to have a better performance since their decisions are data-based, which are usually supported by Business Intelligence tools. The Commercial Department of João Portugal Ramos Wines & Spirits, a Portuguese wine company, had the need to structure and centralize the available data in valuable reports that would sustain their decisions. Therefore, the goal of this project was to build a Business Intelligence tool, namely a Power BI solution, to support the Commercial Department in the decision-making process. As the starting point, an introduction to the problem itself, the context of the organization, the company description and a literature review related with the main topics was presented. The Design Science Research methodology was chosen to undertake this project, with its different phases applied successfully. The results showed that the artifact produced (Power BI solution) was able to answer to the business needs identified by the Commercial Department and that such tool has benefit the team by allowing the managers to have a clearer picture of the performance of a specific market or brand, therefore permitting better informed decisions.
