This study makes an epidemiological analysis of malaria cases admitted to Hospital de Faro. 53 individuals were included in the study, outlining the profile of the patient hospitalized with malaria – middle-aged man who traveled for work, did not undergo chemoprophylaxis, with Plasmodium falciparum infection, whose main complaint was fever. Analytically, the elevation of bilirubin and inflammatory parameters was highlighted. There was a higher tendency to admit patients to intermediate/intensive care units for the severity expected by the WHO criteria, which needs further studies.
