Value, Management, and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity from Sofala Province In Mozambique The general aim of this thesis is to present a multidisciplinary framework to provide Sofala Province (Mozambique) with technical and scientific data, focusing on management, sustainable use, and conservation of the local ecosystems. The first chapter provides an overview of Sofala and states the main focus of this PhD. Chapter 2 investigates the impacts of the Tropical Cyclone Idai using a Multi-temporal Landsat Satellite Imagery Analysis. Chapter 3 evaluates the vulnerability of coastal mangrove ecosystems, to identify priority areas for management interventions. Chapter 4 provides nutritional value of the most commercialised dry legume groups (Phaseolus vulgaris and Vigna spp.) in local markets. Chapter 5 explores the role of cultural heritage on natural resources conservation. Finally, Chapter 6 contains the conclusions drawn from the findings and recommendations for further studies in Mozambique.
