O propósito deste estudo é o de apurar o impacte causado pelo acidente grave de trabalho na vida do trabalhador em termos financeiros, psicológicos e sociais. Para atingir o objetivo deste estudo, procedeu-se a realização da revisão bibliográfica sobre o impacto do acidente de trabalho na vida dos trabalhadores nos três níveis supramencionados e ainda se recolheu dados empíricos com entrevistas a trabalhadores sinistrados, no sentido de se obter relatos do acidente de trabalho e as repercussões do mesmo na sua vida, e a representantes de entidades que intervêm neste tipo de acontecimentos. Nas entrevistas institucionais abrangeu-se um responsável da ANDST – Associação Nacional dos Deficientes Sinistrados do Trabalho, um Procurador do Tribunal do Trabalho e a um responsável do CRPG – Centro de Reabilitação Profissional de Gaia. Com os resultados obtidos foi possível concluir que um acidente de trabalho grave tem repercussões significativas, tanto no plano físico como ao nível financeiro, psicológico e social. Fica também patente que o problema tende a alastrar-se ao contexto familiar de forma incisiva. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the impact caused by serious work accidents on the life of workers in financial, psychological and social terms. In order to achieve the objective of this study, a bibliographic review has been carried out to understand the impact of accidents at work on the lives of workers at the three levels mentioned above. Interviews were carried out with social actors, namely the person in charge of ANDST - National Association of Workers with Disabilities, a Labor Court Attorney and the person in charge of CRPG - Professional Rehabilitation Center of Gaia. Interviews have been conducted with several victims, from which reports of the work accidents and the underlying repercussions were obtained. As a result of this research study, it has been concluded that serious work accidents have repercussions at the financial, psychological and social levels, as well as the phenomenon will spread over and impact the family context, therefore the findings confirmed by the interviews are consistent with results found in the bibliographic review.
