A globalização e a cada vez maior competitividade do setor bancário e financeiro e as constantes inovações tecnológicas obrigam as instituição financeiras a uma persistente procura por uma maior eficiência da sua estrutura, organização e operações. Neste sentido, este trabalho tem por objetivo o estudo do conceito de centralização bancária assim como das necessidades, objetivos e motivações das instituições financeiras em adotar este modelo organizacional e quais os desafios e consequências a enfrentar pelas instituições financeiras. O método de investigação passa por questionários a operacionais de uma instituição financeira internacionalizada com o propósito de responder aos objetivos definidos numa ótica de perceção dos operacionais de uma instituição financeira. Com base na interpretação e análise dos resultados obtidos, conclui-se quais os impactos que a centralização das operações pode ter para uma instituição financeira.
Globalization and the increasing competitiveness of the banking and financial sectors and the constant technological innovations force financial institutions to a persistent search for greater efficiency in their structure, organization and operations. This work aims to study the concept of banking centralization as well as the needs, objectives and motivations of financial institutions to adopt this organizational model and what are the challenges and consequences to be faced by financial institutions. The research method involves questionnaires to the operations of an internationalized financial institution with the aim of responding to the objectives defined from the point of view of the perception of the operations of a financial institution. From the interpretation and analysis of the results obtained, it is concluded what impacts centralization of operations can have on a financial institution.
