Estes jogos pretendem assim, auxiliar as crianças
Speech allows for the transfer of multiple types of important information, being the means of communication most widely used, and, because of that, as essential element for integration in the community, and, in that way, one of the most important aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, speech disorders are a common problem amongst children, and, if not treated, they can cause a direct impact not only in the child’s social life, but also on his or hers academic life. So being, speech therapy has a very important role, because it’s thought it that children can overcame those disorders. Speech therapy is an area of healthcare that has been experiencing significant growth over the last years. Being a recent therapy, its support resources are scarce, being, many times adapted and created by the therapists. Beyond that, the available materials for speech therapy sessions are very limited and monotonous, which makes keeping the children focused on executing the exercises a hard task. One way of motivating the children is through electronic games, technologies which, in our day and age, they are pretty familiarised. So, here is proposed a software plat form, through gamification techniques of therapy, that comprise a system of rewards, adapted difficulty levels to the necessities of each child, sound analysis and the possible parametrization by part of the therapists. This software platform will be composed by two different games, but allows the later addition of others. Both games use an automatic speech recognizing system to gauge the children’s speech productions. They are both dependant on that the child says and offer an immediate visual feedback on it. Also, they provide some clues to help the children, should they experience any difficulties, and a system of rewards to keep motivating them. One of the games also contains several levels and an automatic difficult system. This games pretend, in this way, to help the children overcome their troubles with a certain kind of sounds, and they can be used in therapy sessions or at home, for the children to practice. The therapist will also be able to follow de child to adjust the therapy sessions having in mind the troubles presented by the children.
