dc.description.abstractHá 50 anos, em Maio de Junho de 1968, teve lugar a maior greve geral da história da Europa. Esta representa um marco na história da Europa e do Mundo. Na Europa, trata-se de uma revolução num país capitalista avançado, que une trabalho manual a intelectual e, pela primeira vez desde a Guerra, coloca em causa a hegemonia dos partidos pró URSS na direcção da classe trabalhadora. No mundo, o Maio de 68 representa uma época histórica marcada pelo protagonismo de lutas sociais que colocaram os “de baixo” no epicentro do processo histórico: Berkeley, Londres, México, Praga, Turim e Paris. Neste artigo olhamos os acontecimentos nas cidades europeias, e como eles marcaram uma época no século XX. Fifty years ago, in May of 1968, the largest general strike in the history of Europe took place. This represents a milestone in the history of Europe and the world. In Europe it is a revolution in an advanced capitalist country, which combines manual and intellectual work and, for the first time since the war, calls into question the hegemony of pro-USSR parties in the direction of the working class. In the world, May 1968 represents a historical era marked by the protagonism of social struggles that put the working classes at the epicenter of the historical process: Berkeley, London, Mexico, Prague, Turin and Paris. In this article we look at events in European cities, and how they marked an era in the twentieth century.en
