Este texto analisa as mudanças ocorridas na televisão portuguesa (RTP) na transição para a democracia possibilitada pelo golpe militar de 25 de abril de 1974. Assinala as principais características da televisão durante a última fase do Estado Novo e sinaliza a coexistência da informação subordinada à propaganda do regime de Marcelo Caetano (1968-1974) com a modernidade de vários programas culturais e de divulgação não diários. A partir do mapeamento dos momentos chave da informação televisiva ocorrida no primeiro mês da nova RTP revolucionária, reflete sobre o papel dos media na construção da memória coletiva e das narrativas históricas. This text analyses how Portuguese television (RTP) changed during the transition to democracy by the military coup of April 25, 1974. It highlights the main characteristics of television during the last phase of the Estado Novo. It signals how the Marcelo Caetano (1968-1974) regime’s subordination of information to propaganda coexisted with the modernity of various non-daily cultural programs. The mapping of key moments of television information that occurred in the first month of the new revolutionary RTP reflects the media’s role in the construction of collective memory and historical narratives.
