O presente artigo analisa de que forma as estéticas (e temáticas) da austeridade, das crises pessoais e colectivas e da empatia se interseccionam na narrativa intermedial Stone Soup (2014) publicada, por Cas Willing e Paula Rego, no período da austeridade na Grã-Bretanha e em Portugal, e como essa obra traduz intersemioticamente e subverte a história tradicional da sopa de pedra, colocando, no centro da acção, uma jovem inicialmente sem qualquer tipo de agência. This article analyses how the aesthetics (and themes) of austerity, personal and collective crises and empathy intersect in the intermedial narrative Stone Soup (2014) published by Cas Willing and Paula Rego during the period of austerity in Great Britain and Portugal. It also delas with how this work intersemiotically translates and subverts the traditional tale of the stone soup, placing a young woman initially, and without any kind of agency, at the centre of the action.
