Resumo(s)

The present study investigates the manifestation of templates in the development phonological study of two children, one acquiring Brazilian Portuguese and the other European Portuguese, assuming a dynamic development perspective and WholeWord / Templatic Phonology in longitudinal data analysis. After analysis of the data, it was verified the manifestation of different templates in the phonological development of each child, it was also observed that moments of use and disuse of the templates vary from child to child. We conclude that behind the variability in phonological development there is a manifestation of templates. The distorted words, that is, words that result from the manifestation of a template, characterize moments of instability characteristic of development. In moments of instability, the templates are formed and manifested due to the principle of self-organization, that is, the spontaneous formation of patterns. The system self-organizes itself because of its inherent ability to find patterns from some kind of interaction.
