dc.description.abstract"The African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) is a large double-stranded DNA virus that replicates primarily in macrophages in vivo and endothelial cells in vitro. It causes a persistent infection in its natural host, the warthog, but a fulminant disease in domestic pig. Thus, it is a source of major economic losses in many African countries and a threat to pig farming worldwide. No vaccine currently exists, and therefore options for disease control are limited to destruction of infected pigs.(...)."pt_PT
