Pavilhão do Conhecimento - Centro Ciência Viva.
As atividades
Answering the challenge proposed by my supervisor Octávio Mateus, I intend to write a thesis about the experimental and interactive teaching of Paleontology. The fact that I work at the Pavilion of Knowledge - Ciência Viva Centre was an important factor in my decision. My experience of about 20 years helped a lot to develop the activities proposed here. Two decades of working in the area of museology showed me that this universe – as well as most primary and secondary schools – lacks interactive experimental tools for Paleontology. Most affected by this are teachers and museum professionals, who increasingly feel the lack of hands-on tools that they can use in their daily practices. This thesis thus aims to provide tools that will equip all those interested in equipping and improving their museum, school and/or other spaces. The interactive activities described here go far beyond the interactive teaching of Palaeontology, covering other fields of science, such as Geology, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Informatics. This work also aims to arouse the interest and passion of all those who dream of a different profession and getting to know unspoiled locations, researching the life of the past on Earth: Palaeontology.
