Resumo(s)
This research paper is a result of the Global Collaboratory on the History of Labour Relations, set up by the International Institute of Social History (IISH) in Amsterdam. The project aims at making a worldwide inventory of all types of labour relations, in all their facets and combinations, in different parts of the world during five cross-sections in time: 1500, 1650, 1800, 1900, for Africa also 1950, and 2000. Therefore, the Portuguese sources are among the very rare to fill the gap for the period 1500-1900, in particular for the territories Goa, Daman and Diu (for more than four centuries under Portuguese sovereignty), but also for territories who were Portuguese for a shorter period. To start with, this paper will concentrate on Goa, adding a few remarks on Daman and Diu.
