Resumo(s)

Eco-friendly hotels are implementing environmental management procedures to reduce their ecological footprint and meet the expectations of increasingly eco-conscious tourists. However, tourists’ cultural differences influence their perceptions of sustainability. Accordingly, this study explores cultural differences in tourists' satisfaction and emotions after experiencing eco-friendly hotels. Hofstede's Cultural Dimension Framework was used to identify the culture types. A text mining mixed method approach, particularly Sentiment and Tone of Voice analysis, was applied to analyze 20,067 Booking.com reviews from guests who stayed at the top European eco-friendly hotels. The results revealed that every Hofstede's cultural dimension influences satisfaction and partially influences the tourists’ emotions. The discussion of the results was triangulated to provide an in-depth understanding of the empirical findings. These findings suggest that the tourists' culture affects the experience in this recent type of hotel, providing eco-friendly hotel managers with valuable insights that should be considered in marketing strategies.
