Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming education, with its potential for personalized
learning and enhanced educational experiences gaining significant traction. The educational
system, however, continues to place a strong emphasis on conventional teaching methods.
While several studies have documented AI applications and their potential benefits, there is a
lack of studies about the engagement of students and teachers from NOVA IMS. This thesis
aims to address this gap by investigating NOVA IMS students' perceptions of AI integration in
their academic experience. The study investigates how students interact with AI, why and how
frequently they use it, and what concerns them. It also examines how educators see the
possible advantages and limitations of AI. The findings reveal that students, while generally
receptive to AI in classes, give more importance to teachers. They acknowledge its potential,
while desiring more knowledge and continued use. However, they lack basic AI literacy and
prioritize short-term benefits. Teachers, while recognizing AI's potential, advocate for a
cautious approach to avoid undermine critical thinking or negatively impacting learning. This
study offers insightful perspectives on the application of AI in education from both teachers
and students. It is believed that these findings would help NOVA IMS make decisions about
implementing AI.
