Social inequalities and deficiencies in governance are barriers to the establishment of an inclusive and sustainable society. The first two chapters of this thesis delve into the relationship between different types of inequalities and antisocial behaviors. Specifically, the first chapter uses cross-country and individual approaches to look at the relationship between intergenerational mobility and political violence. The second uses a lab-in-the-field to study the relationship between inequality and antisocial behavior. The third chapter focuses on the cornerstone of democratic governance: voting. Particularly, it uses a randomized controlled trial to study the impact of the distribution of a free newspaper and get-out-the-vote text messages on political behavior.eng
