Os serviços de assistência sanitária no nosso Ultramar atingiram, no ponto de vista da medicina curativa, certo desenvolvimento, sobretudo em comparação com os dos territórios vizinhos, mas, no campo da medicina preventiva, muito, muito há por fazer.
Reconhece-se, de um modo geral, nos nossos médicos do Ultramar boa preparação clínica, mas já o mesmo se não pode dizer da sua preparação no campo da saúde pública.
Healthcare services in our overseas territories have, from the point of view of curative medicine, achieved a certain level of development, particularly when compared with those in neighbouring territories; however, in the field of preventive medicine, there is still a great deal to be done. Our overseas doctors are generally recognised as being well-trained in clinical practice, but the same cannot be said of their training in the field of public health.
