In the last years, the accommodation sector suffered an extraordinary transformation with the appearance of peer-to-peer accommodation within the Sharing Economy. COVID-19 disturbed the hospitality market in the short term, but the supply can be adjusted to comply with post-pandemic guest preferences in the long term. Therefore, this study aims to help old and new hosts by giving insights into the immediate and longer-term impacts on tourism demand preferences regarding their origin, destination, and accommodation choices. Descriptive and statistical analyses were made on demand from 63587 accommodations, scraped from the Airbnb website, to identify the regions and types of accommodations that suffered more with the pandemic and if that pattern remains. The study revealed guests’ preferences for domestic tourism and rural areas, specifically that rural areas with less presence of international tourism were the preference. Accommodations with household amenities were widely demanded in the first year when most restaurants were closed and high-risk perceptions, but it did not maintain in the following years. Accommodations with rural benefits are increasing the demand yearly, even in urban areas. This is an opportunity for hosts to appear in the market with accommodations with those characteristics, especially people with second homes uncopied in rural areas almost all year, and to improve the information regarding the accommodation and the region that may have characteristics tourists do not know about.pt_PT
