The rise of social media use in the last two decades has presented new opportunities and challenges for its users. It’s integration into our daily habits is certainly not something to ignore. Prior studies focused on the social media use impact in the western culture, and little to none have been done in the Arab world. In this study, using population-based data from Tunisian citizens, we studied the association of personality traits, depression, and anxiety to social media behavior in 189 users. The findings highlight that extraverted, fun-seeking, and anxious users tend to spend more time on social media, while conscious people spend less time online. Our study also suggests that extraverted people, with low agreeableness use social network sites to communicate rather than using them for entertainment.pt_PT
