Este artigo pretende refletir sobre as reconfigurações recentemente operadas no âmbito da atividade turística na Mauritânia. Procurando, em primeiro lugar, elencar os processos que conduziram à formalização do turismo no período pós-colonial, caracteriza-se posteriormente a crise que se vive atualmente no setor, procurando identificar as suas origens. A partir de uma etnografia realizada em Nouakchott em 2010 e 2011, o texto procura dar voz a diversos interlocutores ligados ao setor do turismo. Por último, são discutidas algumas estratégias de reconversão do turismo mauritano que passam pela exportação de símbolos culturais e marcadores de autenticidade, e sugere-se a existência de novas relações de dependência entre França e o antigo território colonial This article aims to reflect on the reconfigurations recently performed within the scope of Mauritanian tourism. Seeking in a first moment to list the processes that led to the formalization of tourism in the post-colonial period, it then characterizes the crisis currently experienced in the sector, pursuing to identify its origins. Starting from an ethnography carried out in Nouakchott in 2010 and 2011, the text seeks to give voice to various parties linked to the tourism sector. Finally, the text discusses tourism reconversion strategies that include the export of cultural symbols and authenticity markers, and suggests the existence of new relations of dependence between France and its former colony.
