Industry 4.0 put in motion a change in paradigm of industrial production, introducing the digitalization and modularization of the factory, Internet of Things (IoT) techonologies and new technologies in the field of smart objects applied to machines and products. In this context, this thesis addresses the development of a data visualization platform that allows the visualization, in a simple and intuitive manner, of the factory processes’ key performance indicators (KPIs), and provides insights of the processes, in order to constantly optimize them. We studied the state of the art of the types of data visualization and interaction, as well as the existing dashboard creation platforms, in order to develop a good data visualization platform. This thesis is part of the European project Boost 4.0, developed with the with the goal of implementing the latest Industry 4.0 technologies in an industrial environment, in order to reduce manual labor, susceptible to errors due to the cyclic nature and long up times of the processes, and replace the current model with a modular, more flexible and automated one, so as to minimize errors and optimize the processes. From the Boost 4.0 project, this thesis addresses the development of data visualization platforms for two distinct case studies, Volkswagen Autoeuropa, in the context of the automotive industry, and Ria Stone, in the context of ceramics industry.
