Resumo(s)
The general objective of the present chapter is to give a contribution to the knowledge and promotion of the Douro wine region, through the use of literary texts. It involves the analysis of the literary texts through a geographical approach, in order to schedule landscape character and identity of the Douro region. The main purpose is to present landmarks, as well as cultural and technical features, represented in the literary texts, significant to make Douro World-renowned. They are used works of important writers born in the Douro region and other remarkable Portuguese figures. The literary works are picketed in the data basis of the project “Atlas of Literary Landscapes of Continental Portugal”, based on the foundations of ecocriticism, on a strongly interdisciplinary matrix. As to application, the literary works gives responses to regions development, allowing to designed literary itineraries, an important research topic still few explored in the Douro and other Portuguese wine regions.
