Resumo(s)
The increase in life expectancy and continuous population ageing has resulted in the escalation of age-related diseases, such as cataracts, which greatly reduce people’s quality of life. This leads to additional pressure on health insurance companies, among other healthcare providers, who must make use of the available data to provide the best possible conditions to their customers while assuring controlled costs. Hence, this study aims, on the one hand, to identify the typical clinical pathway of Médis clients who undergo cataract surgery, to create a concrete cataract package with a fixed cost, and on the other, to classify clients likely to undergo this surgery. Hereupon, through the use of data mining and machine learning methods, the company can gain a deeper knowledge of its clients, the procedures done, and their cost.
