Resumo(s)
Man-made and natural disaster sites are two different tourist attractions for dark tourism. The
study aims to explore how tourists respond emotionally and their satisfaction levels at these
two types of sites. A mixed-method approach using text mining approaches, sentiment, and
tone of voice analysis was conducted to analyze 22,191 reviews from visitors of Man-made
and Natural disaster TripAdvisor pages. The results of both analyses were triangulated to
ensure a comprehensive understanding of the empirical findings. Results suggest that
satisfaction levels varied based on the type of tourist attraction and the tourists' nationality,
gender, and visit season. However, the season did not significantly impact satisfaction at
natural disaster sites or disaster anniversaries. Emotions partly influenced tourist satisfaction,
but not on anniversaries at man-made disaster sites. These outcomes can guide managers in
establishing priorities to meet tourism expectations.
