Las mujeres portuguesas en Canarias durante la agregación de la corona portuguesa a la monarquía hispánica

| dc.description.abstract | A lo largo del último cuarto del siglo XVI, en especial tras la agregación de la Corona portuguesa a la Monarquía Hispánica, se gesta la consolidación del mundo atlántico a partir de complejas redes socioeconómicas transoceánicas. En este escenario, las islas Canarias se convirtieron en lugares atractivos para emprender nuevas actividades profesionales y mercantiles. La comunidad portuguesa que se estableció durante este periodo en las islas favoreció la internacionalización de estos territorios al incluirlos en sus redes atlánticas. Sin embargo, aún se desconoce la agencia de las mujeres portuguesas que emigraron al Archipiélago. El objetivo de esta investigación, a partir del análisis de fuentes documentales primarias, es identificar a las mujeres portuguesas que se establecieron en las Islas, conocer las relaciones locales y transnacionales en las que se insertan y, en definitiva, caracterizar la identidad de estos sujetos a partir del género y de la movilidad transfronteriza. The consolidation of the Atlantic world is gestated from complex transoceanic socioeconomic networks throughout the last quarter of the 16th century, especially after the addition of the Portuguese Crown to the Hispanic Monarchy. In this context, the Canary Islands became attractive places to undertake new professional and commercial activities. The Portuguese community that settled on the islands during this period favoured the internationalization of these territories by including them in their Atlantic networks. However, the agency of the Portuguese women who migrated to the Archipelago is still unknown. From the analysis of primary documentary sources, the objective of this investigation is to identify the Portuguese women who settled in the Islands, to know the local and transnational relationships in which they are inserted and, ultimately, to characterize the identity of these subjects based on gender and cross-border mobility. | en |
