"Infections caused by the opportunistic yeast Candida are the most common hospital-acquired invasive fungal infections. They are
associated with high morbidity and mortality rates and have a strong economic impact on patients and healthcare systems. The lack of effective therapeutics is acknowledged to greatly contribute to the severity of these diseases. The situation has worsened over the last years due to the emergence of clinical strains resistant to currently available antifungals. This scenario has prompted the intensive search for alternative antifungals.(...)"
