| dc.description.abstract | With the Covid-19 crisis, the cost of operational risks has increased substantially, new risks that fall into this category have surged as markets have become much more volatile, and there is a prediction of a global recession. Comparisons with the past financial crisis or the past pandemics that affected the world must be done carefully, for the reason that this time the conditions and challenges faced are nothing like the ones seen until now. However, firms can and should learn from the past so they can be better prepared for the future. The present work aims to examine the main impacts that this kind of social crisis have in operational risks and in the economy, and how have companies dealt with them. The methodology used in this study was based on literature revision on the subject and on a questionnaire directed to Portuguese micro, small and medium sized companies. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Com a crise da Covid-19 o custo dos riscos operacionais aumentou substancialmente, novos riscos que se enquandram nesta categoria surgiram à medida que a volatilidade dos mercados aumentou, e existe também a previsão de uma recessão global. Comparações com a anterior crise financeira ou pandemias passadas que afetaram o mundo devem ser feitas com cautela, uma vez que as condições e os desafios enfrentados são agora muito diferentes. No entanto, as empresas podem e devem aprender com o passado para que possam estar melhor preparas para enfrentar eventos semelhantes no futuro. O presente estudo analisa os principais impactos que este tipo de crise social tem nos riscos operacionais e na economia, e a forma como as empresas lidaram com os mesmos. A metodologia utilizada nesta investigação assentou na revisão de literatura sobre o tema e num questionário dirigido a micro, pequenas e médias empresas portuguesas. | pt_PT |
