| dc.description.abstract | The amount of scientific production regarding Intangible Cultural Heritage has been growing at a fast pace in the last two decades. However, there is a lack of global view about the research conducted on this topic. The purpose of this study is to identify and assess the research trends in Intangible Cultural Heritage scientific production, and present the intellectual, conceptual and social structures in the main levels of analysis: sources, authors and documents. A bibliometric analysis is performed for a comprehensive sample of 626 articles within the period of 2007 to 2020. The bibliometrix R-tool was used to perform this analysis, where the metadata of the database Web of Science was retrieved. The results of the study show two main branches of research, driven by social topics and sustainability concerns. These two branches are reflected in the co-citation networks, authors’ collaboration and co-word analysis. While research on Intangible Cultural Heritage has been performed in all continents, results show poor levels of networking and collaboration. In conclusion, research about Intangible Cultural Heritage is solidifying despite the increase of themes appearing. Indeed, most of the themes end up falling within the two main branches of research. This study can be an opportunity for stimulating future research in this field or related ones by offering an overview of Intangible Cultural Heritage research over time. | pt_PT |
