Resumo(s)
Given the new age of technological development expanding on every different realm of investigation, Geographic Information Science (GIS) has not remained a quail from such endeavours. Now, more than ever, GIS is branching onto several different fields. New tools allow for better and more complex results. The true impact of geospatial analysis is becoming ever more apparent, as well as its increasingly growing applications in other subjects. Created in 2005, Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) was crafted with the advanced study of geospatial information in mind, with applications intended for the army and national defence in the US. However, in recent years, this emerging discipline has also started to branch onto several other domains, including the business domain. Thus, the following master’s dissertation attempts to comprehend the emerging discipline of GEOINT, simultaneously studying a symbiotic relationship between GEOINT and Business Intelligence (BI). The basis of this dissertation is theoretical, yet to strengthen this symbiotic relationship, a hypothetical case study example was elaborated.
