This article discusses readers’ accounts on online news comments, through an analysis of comments threads on an article published in the online version of Portuguese newspaper Público in November 2013, focused on online news comments. As a case study on users’ perceptions towards comments sections while using them, I concluded that the discussion not only highlighted the negative perception that readers may have of the forum, but also the intensified power relationships among users themselves that can arise from a collaborative model of moderation.
