La distinction entre inquisitions médiévales (XIIIe-XVe siècles) et modernes (XVe-XIXe siècles) a tendu à mettre au second plan des figures tenues pour des survivances. La présente étude porte ainsi sur la question de la censure des livres en rapport avec les inquisiteurs en France et en Franche-Comté au XVIe et au xviie siècle. Et à ce titre, deux noms s’imposent: Vital de Bécanis, dans les années 1540, et Jean Des Loix, un siècle plus tard. The distinction between medieval inquisitions (thirteenth to fifteenth centuries) and modern inquisitions (fifteenth to nineteenth centuries) has tended to relegate to the background figures considered to be survivals. This study looks at the question of book censorship in relation to the inquisitors in France and Franche-Comté in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Two names stand out in this respect: Vital de Bécanis, in the 1540s, and Jean Des Loix, a century later.
