Este artículo analiza el papel de la solidaridad internacional en la Reforma Agraria portuguesa, una parte de las políticas para reestructurar la economía portuguesa tras la Revolución de los Claveles, en el contexto de la reorientación socialista de la economía. Se examinan los acuerdos comerciales y técnico-científicos firmados con países del bloque del Este y del Tercer Mundo, los nuevos amigos de Portugal, orientados a modernizar la agricultura y apoyar la organización cooperativa. A partir del estudio de sus efectos en los campos del sur de Portugal y de la percepción de los actores locales, se concluye que América Latina tuvo una influencia destacada en el proceso, el apoyo soviético fue limitado y destacó en cambio el interés de países como Rumanía y Bulgaria. This article examines the role of international solidarity in the Portuguese Agrarian Reform following the Carnation Revolution, within the broader context of the country’s shift toward a socialist economy. It explores the trade and scientific-technical agreements established with Eastern Bloc and Third World countries –the new friends of Portugal– aimed at modernising agriculture and supporting cooperative organisation. Focusing on their impact in southern rural areas and the perceptions of local actors, the study concludes that Latin America exerted a significant influence on the reform process, while Soviet support was comparatively limited. Greater interest and involvement were observed from other communist regimes, particularly Romania and Bulgaria.
