In Angola, rice is the most consumed food after maize and cassava. However, there is a limited number of in-depth scientific research on the production systems of the culture.
This study aims at the characterization of rice production systems in Angola, using the value chain approach. The study is expected to help decision makers to design policies that should increase rice productivity. The work consists of 5 chapters. After the introduction, Chapter 2 deals with the state of the art of rice in Angola. Chapter 3 describes rice production systems in the municipalities of Kamacupa and Catabola, province of BiƩ. Chapter 4 seeks to understand how rice value chain management works
and finally, Chapter 5 identifies some proposals for possible solutions.
