próximos do conceito de ageing in place.
ABSTRACT - This research aimed to analyze how the aging conditions provided in a social village are promoters of active and healthy ageing and respond to the different levels of needs of residents. It is a qualitative study, around the perceptions of elderly people living in a social village in Portugal, regarding their living conditions and needs in the context of promoting active and healthy aging. 27 residents aged between 65 and 105 were interviewed. The results show that the elderly people who live in these conditions, are well-adapted and what they impart is that the social response present in this environment put them in a healthy and active ageing approach, through the promotion of health, safety and participation. It was also found that they give a lot of value to the fact they feel free, both due to the type of housing and the surrounding environment. It was possible to identify similarities with the institutionalization in ERPI, such as structured activities, but on a set of innovative elements, closer to the concept of ageing in place.
