NSBE - Knowledge Centers

NOVAFRICA is a knowledge center created by the Nova School of Business and Economics of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Its mission is to produce distinctive expertise on business and economic development in Africa. A particular focus is on Portuguese-speaking Africa, i.e., Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and Sao Tome and Principe.

Economics for Policy at Nova School of Business and Economics is a knowledge center dedicated to applying fundamental tools from economics to relevant issues in business and public policy. The center will bring together scientific coherence and real world experience to analyze key challenges facing private and public sector organizations. It aims to produce conceptual and quantitative assessments relevant to organizations, companies, and the public at large. Economics for Policy is anchored in the world-class research and teaching faculty at Nova School of Business and Economics and a diverse body of affiliates from renowned institutions.

Nova SBE Health Economics & Management Knowledge Center is Nova SBE’s research unit and knowledge center for Health Economics, Health Management, Health Policy, and Public Health. We produce research to create and share rigorous knowledge, empowering well-informed and well-reasoned decisions in health issues, for society’s benefit.

Over the past eight years, the Nova SBE Leadership for Impact Knowledge Center has established itself as a dedicated space for seeding and building social impact. We believe real progress happens when strong academic knowledge meets meaningful action. Our mission is to bridge theory and practice, helping organizations perform better while contributing positively to society. Guided by our vision to Empower for Progress, we focus on three pillars: preparing the Leadership of the Future, exploring New Forms of Organizing for Impact, and Advancing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. We recognize that in a complex global landscape, traditional sustainability is often not enough; we must meet organizations and individuals where they are and support their unique journeys toward progress. With a community of 50 members and over 40 partners, we are committed to being stewards of our social and environmental context. By fostering deep collaboration and a culture of care, we strive to contribute to a more inclusive and resilient tomorrow for all.
