Motivação profissional de médicos internos de Medicina Geral e Familiar, em Portugal : estudo de adaptação de um instrumento de avaliação

RESUMO - Este trabalho descreve o processo de adaptação de um instrumento
de medida, utilizado no estudo da motivação profissional,
numa população de médicos portugueses. A versão
adaptada da escala consiste num instrumento de
auto-preenchimento com 57 itens, de resposta tipo Likert,
agrupados em oito sub-escalas ou dimensões, que representam
vários construtos implicados no processo motivacional,
em contexto profissional.
Os resultados do estudo de adaptação, realizado numa
população de 109 médicos em fase de formação pós graduada,
no Internato Médico da especialidade de Medicina
Geral e Familiar, sugerem que a metodologia utilizada foi
adequada, e que a versão adaptada da referida escala pode
ser usada como uma medida fidedigna da motivação profissional
neste grupo profissional, essencial a um sistema de
saúde baseado nos Cuidados de Saúde Primários.

ABSTRACT - The aim of this study is to analyze the adaptation process and the study of the psychometric properties of a measurement instrument used in the evaluation of the professional motivation of a population of Portuguese doctors. The final version is build on 57 Likert scale‘s items, grouped in seven components or short scales, that describe the main constructs involved in motivational process. Applied to a sample of 109 doctors, on a post graduated vocational training in Family Medicine Internship, the results of the adaptation, and its validation, suggest that we used an adequate methodology. The study shows a reliable, valid and sensitive instrument, suggesting that the scale is an independent and specific framework, recommended to evaluate the strategies used by the medical trainees in their motivational process, in a specialty that is crucial for a Primary Care health system.
