O presente artigo pretende dar conta de uma
investigação em curso sobre a oficina do
impressor Germão Galharde.
Com base no seu material tipográfico usado
entre 1519 a 1565, ou herdado dos seus
antecessores Valentim Fernandes, João Pedro
de Bonhomini, tem sido possível, por um lado,
atestar a continuidade e longevidade dos tipos,
das iniciais, das tarjas e das gravuras, como, por
outro, demonstrar a inovação própria do
impressor francês.
A base de dados do material tipográfico da
oficina de Germão Galharde, em construção,
tem permitido atribuir impressos sine notis, de
que escolhemos dois casos porventura mais
representativos de novos impressos que
passaram a integrar a sua produção, em seu
nome e de sua viúva.
Com efeito, sublinha-se a necessidade de haver
um corpus documental digitalizado como
ferramenta auxiliar na observação presencial, na
análise e na descrição das espécies.
The present article intends to summarize an ongoing research about the printing office of Germão Galharde. Based on his printing material used between 1519 and 1565, inherited by the predecessors Valentim Fernandes, João Pedro de Bonhomini and Hermão de Campos, it has been possible, on one side, to prove the continuity and long life of the type, initials, borders and woodcuts, as well as to demonstrate the innovation of the french printer. The data-base of the printing material used by Germão Galharde, being in progress, served to ascribe sine notis imprints, of which we choosed two representative editions that will integrate his production, printed in his own name or his widow. The intention was, indeed, to stress the need of a digitized documentary corpus in order to serve as an auxiliary instrument during the observation, in loco, the analysis and the description of imprints.
