Resumo(s)
The aim of this study is to analyse the applied research on the Portuguese labour market. We focus on labour supply and earnings. We show that the results of several research studies are similar, that is, they are robust to different data sets, equation specification and estimation procedures. Additionally, the reader has the opportunity to get a deeper view about the labour market behaviour in Portugal. The estimation results come from three sets of functions: earnings; participation decision in the labour market; and hours of work supplied to the market. The estimation of individual's earnings holds results that are similar, not only in the signs of the variables' influence on earnings but also in the values obtained for the associated coefficients. Concerning the participation decision and hours of work, we have two different types of results. When we consider the male's behaviour, the findings are scarce and it is difficult to come to conclusions. If the female's behaviour is the aim of the research, the results are robust to the different estimation settings.
