In this paper we estimate a model of allocation of time within the household using data on 359 married women with children with ages below 15 (data from Portugal 1988 - Direcção Geral da Família). In our sample 65% of the women allocated more than 24 hours per day. This can show that women consider the possibility of joint production of some of activities. Children influence differently the allocation of time of the parents. As expected, the allocation of time of the mother is more affected than that of the father. The age of children is one of the explanations of the different allocation of time among parents. In the case of women children "destroy" some of the possibilities of joint production.
