A partir de uma perspectiva simbólica, procuramos interpretar o caminho espiritual na místicasufi e na mística cristã, tendo como ponto de partida a obra Manṭiq al at-ṭayīr (A Conferência das Aves)do místico sufi ʿAṭṭār (1145-1221) e a obra Castelo Interior de Santa Teresa de Ávila (1515-1582). Emambas as obras, as etapas a percorrer são sete e o objectivo primordial consiste na união com Deus.Além disso, a via espiritual preconizada por Santa Teresa de Ávila veio revolucionar a vivênciados Carmelitas, desencadeando em alguns países, nomeadamente em Portugal, um grande interesse (sobretudo feminino) pela via mística e pela ascese. From a symbolic perspective, we search for the interpretation of the spiritual path both in sufi mysticism and christian mysticism, starting with the work Manṭiq al at-ṭayīr (The Birds Conference) by the sufi mystic ʿAṭṭār (1145-1221), and the work Interior Castle by Santa Teresa de Ávila (1515- 1582). In these both works the stages to be covered are seven, and the main goal is the union with God.Besides this, the spiritual path recommended by Santa Teresa de Ávila came to revolutionize the Carmelitas life experience, which caused, in some countries like Portugal, a major interest (mainly feminine) in the mystical path and in asceticism.
