- Triazolylidene Manganese and Rhenium Complexes: Synthesis and ReactivityPublication . Friães, Sofia Manuela Pinto; Royo, Beatriz; Branco, Luís"This thesis describes the synthesis and characterisation of several manganese and rhenium complexes with bidentate ligands containing triazolylidene/pyridine/triazole fragments and different wingtips, and the study of their reactivity in catalysis. In particular, their application in the electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 and in borrowing hydrogen (BH) processes. "
- Catalysis with bio-relevant metals: iron and nickel organometallic complexes in reduction reactionsPublication . Lopes, Rita Isabel Lourenço da Silva; Royo, Beatriz"This thesis describes the synthesis of new half-sandwich iron and nickel complexes bearing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands and their application in the catalytic reduction of unsaturated compounds, and in dehydrogenative coupling reactions. The state-of-the-art of iron and nickel N-heterocyclic carbene complexes in catalytic reduction reactions is compiled in a general introduction in chapter 1. Specifically, discussion focus on catalytic reductions of multiple bonds through hydrogenation, transfer hydrogenation, hydrosilylation, and hydroboration using iron and nickel complexes as catalysts. The main aim of the thesis and the specific objectives are described in chapter 1.(...)"
- Cyclopentadienyl-functionalised N-heterocyclic carbenes: synthesis, coordination to Mo, Ru, RhPublication . Costa, André Pontes da; Royo, Beatriz; Peris, EduardoThis thesis deals with the synthesis of cyclopentadienyl-functionalised N-heterocyclic carbenes and its coordination to both middle and late transition metals. One of the goals was to gain chemical knowledge on the reactivity patterns of these complexes, and explore their potential applications in catalysis. The imidazolium salts synthesised in the course of this thesis represent a series containing changes in the electronic and steric parameters. The ligand precursors were coordinated to molybdenum, ruthenium, rhodium and iridium. These organometallic complexes were studied in homogeneous catalysis processes such as: olefin epoxidation (Mo), isomerisation of allylic alcohols (Ru), b-alkylation of alcohols, Nalkylation of amines and transfers hydrogenation of ketones (Ir).(...)
